KL Rahul: Interesting facts about the Indian batsman
Yesterday, KL Rahul scripted yet another record as he became only the second Indian to score two tons in T20Is. He has been a consistent performer, at the top of the batting order, for both Indian cricket team and his IPL franchise Kings XI. With his match-winning knocks, he has 'permanently' booked a place in Kohli's XI. Here are some interesting facts about him.
Tumbling records across formats
Rahul has the rare distinction of being the only Indian to have scored an ODI ton on his debut. He is also the third Indian who has slammed centuries across all formats at the international level. He scored the fourth fastest T20 fifty (off 14 balls). 7 consecutive Test fifties? Rahul has done that too and is the only Indian to achieve this feat.
Rahul hails from a family of academicians
Rahul's mother Rajeshwari is a professor at the Mangalore University, while his father Dr. KN Lokesh is a faculty member at the Department of Civil Engineering in NIT Surathkal. Rahul is the only one in the family to pursue cricket as his career.
Stats which Rahul would want to run from
In an international career, which spans over 42 months now, Rahul does have a few unwanted records to his name. He had a slow start to his career, scoring just four runs across two innings on his Test debut. He is the first Indian to have been dismissed hit wicket in a T20I. Rahul's highest test cricket score is 1 short of 200.
