IPL 2018: All-round KKR beat CSK at Eden Gardens
Kolkata Knight Riders beat Chennai Super Kings in match number 33 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. In pursuit of 178 runs in 20 overs, the hosts chased down the target courtesy a sublime fifty from India U-19 prodigy Shubman Gill. Skipper Dinesh Karthik too chipped in with valuable runs as the Knights notched their fifth victory in IPL 2018.
Gill, Karthik do the job for Knights
Shubman scored his maiden fifty in IPL 2018. The U-19 World Cup winning star looked at ease all through his knock. He shared a match-winning 83-run partnership with skipper Dinesh Karthik, who smashed a 18-ball 45*. This was KKR's seventh win in 18 matches against CSK. Gill was the star with a 36-ball 57*.
MS Dhoni ups the tempo yet again
MS Dhoni's fine form in IPL 2018 continued. He hit another powerful 25-ball 43* to steer CSK past 170-run mark. His knock was blended with four sixes and and a four. Dhoni has been superb donning the role as a finisher and Thursday was no different. He has gone to become the batsman with the highest number of sixes in IPL 2018 (24).
Narine delivers for KKR
CSK started well with Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson adding 48 runs for the first wicket. At 91/1, CSK were sailing, before Narine got the dangerous Watson. He then also dismissed the in-form Ambati Rayudu, castling him straight on. His 2/20 in four over-spell was a stellar act in keeping CSK below the 180-mark. Narine has 10 wickets now in IPL 2018.
Stat attack: DK and Gill floor CSK
Karthik's strike-rate in last five matches has been amazing. In the last match against RCB, DK had scored at a strike rate of 230.00. Shubman Gill became the 4th youngest to score a fifty in IPL after Sanju Samson, Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant.
