IPL 2025: KKR-LSG clash at Eden Gardens gets rescheduled
What's the story
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League 2025 season at Eden Gardens has been rescheduled to April 8.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the change on March 28, adding that Kolkata Police and the Cricket Association of Bengal requested a date change as there was a shortage of police personnel during the Ram Navami festivities.
Revised timing
New schedule for KKR-LSG match
The new timing for the KKR vs LSG match is April 8 at 3:30pm (IST). With this, the IPL will have a double-header on Tuesday.
The Punjab Kings's face-off against Chennai Super Kings in Chandigarh will go on as planned at 7:30pm on the same day.
The BCCI also confirmed that the schedules of other matches remain unaffected after this rescheduling.
Venue confirmed
KKR-LSG match remains in Kolkata
Despite earlier speculations of a possible shift to Guwahati, the KKR vs LSG match will remain in Kolkata.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) worked hard to keep this game at its original venue.
This comes after Kolkata Police and CAB requested deployment of security personnel across the city during Ram Navami celebrations.
Pitch dispute
KKR's pitch controversy adds to the drama
The rescheduling of the KKR vs LSG match isn't the only problem the team is facing. A tussle has broken out between KKR and Eden Gardens's pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee.
The issue arose from captain Ajinkya Rahane's discontent over a pitch not suiting their strengths.
"We would love to see the pitch helping spin bowlers," Rahane said at a post-match press conference, emphasizing his worry over pitch conditions.
