Ishan Kishan hospitalised after sustaining head injury: Report
Swashbuckling Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan was taken to a hospital on Saturday night after sustaining a head injury, according to a report in ANI. He has been admitted to a hospital in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. Kishan sustained a head injury during the second T20I match between India and Sri Lanka, which Men in Blue won by 7 wickets, at HPCA in Dharamsala.
Why does this story matter?
Kishan is expected to play a lead role in India's squad as they prepare for the upcoming 2022 Men's T20 World Cup in Australia. And, an injury at this stage could derail India as well as Kishan's preparation for the marquee event. The extent of Kishan's injury is yet to be known. He spent the night at the hospital as a precautionary measure.
When did Kishan sustain the injury?
Kishan picked the injury during the fourth over of India's innings while chasing 184 runs. Lahiru Kumara bowled a monstrous delivery in the over, which clonked straight on Kishan's helmet. Thereafter, Kishan looked in a daze as he removed his helmet. He held his ground despite the ball and walked back to the pavilion after getting dismissed on 16.
Dr Shubham on Kishan's injury
"I have been attached to the Indian team and I got information that an Indian player, who has sustained a head injury, has been brought in the hospital. His CT scan was conducted and he has been under observation," Dr Shubham told ANI. Sri Lanka's Dinesh Chandimal was also admitted to the same hospital with a thumb injury. He is also in observation.
