Yash Dayal replaces injured Khaleel Ahmed in India's reserve squad
Left-arm seamer Yash Dayal has been called up to India's reserve pacers for the upcoming series against Australia. The decision comes after Khaleel Ahmed was forced to withdraw due to an unspecified injury. Dayal, who was previously included in the Test squad during the Bangladesh series, didn't get a chance to play in the T20I series in South Africa. Here's more.
Dayal's journey to Perth and Khaleel's return home
Dayal flew straight from Johannesburg to Perth after it was confirmed that Khaleel couldn't bowl in the nets due to his injury. The medical team advised rest for the Rajasthan left-armer, following which Dayal was included in the squad. "It was a like-for-like replacement because the Indian team needs to do simulation for Mitchell Starc," a BCCI source told PTI on Wednesday.
Jaiswal recovers from shoulder injury, Padikkal joins squad
In other team news, Yashasvi Jaiswal has recovered from the shoulder injury he had sustained while batting. He returned to the nets on Wednesday. Meanwhile, left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal has been added to the squad ahead of the first Test after Shubman Gill suffered a left thumb injury during a match-simulation exercise at the WACA Ground recently.
