Ireland might have lost their first Test to Pakistan but Kevin O'Brien's 118-run-knock has given them plenty of hope as they look to make their mark in the 5-day format of the sport. With this century on Ireland's debut, Kevin etched his name in record books. Here is a list of other players who scored a hundred on their nation's Test debut.
Australia's Charles Bannerman
The first ever Test match took place between Australia and England between 15-19 March 1877 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australia's opening batsman Charles Bannerman scored 165 in the first innings but was retired hurt. In the second innings, he could only manage 4 but that hardly mattered as Australia beat England by 45 runs in the end.
Zimbabwe's Dave Houghton
Zimbabwe were granted Test status in 1992 and they made their debut against India on October 18, 1992 at the Harare Sports Club. Wicketkeeper-batsman Dave Houghton was the star for the hosts as he managed to score 121. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 41 as the match was drawn. His century of the highlight of Zimbabwe's first ever Test.
Bangladesh's Aminul Islam
Bangladesh were granted full member status by the ICC in 2000 and they also made their Test debut against India on November 10, 2000 in Dhaka. Aminul Islam made it a memorable day for the Tigers with his 145. In the second innings, he managed just 6 as Indian bowlers ran riot to beat the debutant by 9 wickets.
