Kerala Blasters endure a sorry loss against Melbourne City FC
Australian League outfit, Melbourne City FC, handed a whopping 6-0 defeat to Indian Super League outfit, Kerala Blasters, in the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament. The Blasters were no match to their Australian counterparts and never quite managed to have any say in an one-sided affair at the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium in Kochi. Here is more on the same.
Melbourne City FC on a different level against Kerala
Riley McGree and Lachlan Wales turned out to be Melbourne's trump cards. They kept the Blasters' defenders busy with some brilliant creative attacking football. Luke Brattan scored the opener with McGree adding to the tally. Wales helped his side go 3-0 up, with McGree then getting his 2nd of the night. 18-year-old Ramy Najjarine and Bruno Fornaroli added the final two goals.
Coach David James excited to face Spanish side Girona next
Blasters coach David James said in a post-match interview, "It is definitely disappointing to start the campaign on a losing note. It wasn't going to be easy against a quality opposition like Melbourne City, but I am happy the team did not show any signs of complacency". Blasters next face Girona and James added that, the chance to play them will be magnificent.

Toyota Yaris LaLiga World Tournament is India's 1st pre-season international tournament. Kerala Blasters, Melbourne City FC and Girona are plying their trades in this tourney. Tournament's ambassador Fernando Morientes had unveiled the trophy at Kochi, where all the matches will be played over a 5-day period. The tournament could do wonders in presenting India to the world as a pre-season destination.
