After being booed in Detroit—Kelly Stafford to skip Rams's Opener
Kelly Stafford, wife of former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, has announced that she will not be attending the LA Rams's season opener in Detroit. The decision comes after Kelly and her four daughters were booed at Ford Field during a wild-card game between the Rams and the Lions in January. Kelly has cited concerns for her mental health as the primary reason for her absence.
Kelly to watch the game with daughters at home
On The Morning After podcast, Kelly revealed her plans to watch the Rams's season opener from home after a live show in Detroit on Saturday (September 7). "After our amazing, amazing live show [on September 7 in Detroit], I'm going to hop on a plane and head home so I can watch it with my daughters here, so that's the plan," she said.
Daughters' reluctance another reason for absence
Kelly also mentioned that her daughters expressed their reluctance to attend the game in Detroit. "I actually asked them if they wanted to go back...and they said 'no.' So that is another reason we won't be returning for the game," she explained. She believes this decision is better for her mental health and for her daughters, who are 7-year-old twins Sawyer and Chandler, 6-year-old Hunter, and 4-year-old Tyler.
'Everything is fair game, expect fans who booed...'
During the wild-card game in January, Kelly, who is an internet personality, and her daughters were subjected to boos from the crowd. This was the first time they had returned to Ford Field since Matthew's trade from the Lions to the Rams. Reflecting on the incident, Kelly had earlier said, "The city wants to win. Everything is fair game... Except the fans who booed my children."
Kelly cherishes good memories at Ford Field
Despite the unpleasant incident, Kelly holds fond memories of her time at Ford Field. "I have such good memories in that dome and the last memory I have wasn't that great but it was still like, I got to see Detroit play a playoff game, which was really cool," she said. However, she fears that the drama from the previous game might still linger in people's minds.
