29 balls, 10 wickets: Kashvee scripts history in domestic tournament
Chandigarh U-19 team captain Kashvee Gautam entered the record books as she picked up all 10 wickets in a Women's Under-19 One-Day Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh at KSRM College Ground, Kadapa on Tuesday. Kashvee finished with the figures of 10/12 in her 4.5 overs. She also scored 49 off 68 balls to help Chandigarh post 186/4 at the end of 50 overs.
Kashvee ran all over the Arunachal Pradesh batting line up
Defending 186, Kashvee began the attack for Chandigarh and claimed two scalps in her first over. In the second over, she added three more wickets to complete her five-wicket haul. The next over saw her scalping two wickets before Arunachal Pradesh could reach the double-digit mark. She dismissed three players in the ninth over of the innings to bowl out Arunachal Pradesh for 25.
Only Laker and Kumble have reached this feat before
In international cricket, only two players have managed to reach this esoteric landmark and former India leg-spinner Anil Kumble is one of them. England off-spinner Jim Laker was the first bowler in history to pick all ten wickets in a Test innings against Australia in 1956, while Kumble did so against arch-rivals Pakistan in the famous Delhi Test in 1999.
Kashvee is having a dream tournament
Kashvee has been all guns blazing in the tournament so far. She took 6 wickets against Bihar in the tournament opener and improved her figures by snapping up seven wickets in the next match against Jammu and Kashmir. From the three matches in the tournament till now, Gautam has 23 wickets. Chandigarh will now face Pondicherry on February 28.
