Karnataka are new champions of Vijay Hazare Trophy
Karnataka emerged as the winners of the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy, after beating Saurashtra in an emphatic fashion in New Delhi. It was once again a routine show by in-form batsman Mayank Agarwal, who hit a splendid 90 as Karnataka scored 253 runs. In reply, Saurashtra were bundled out for 212 despite a valiant 94 by Pujara. This is Karnataka's 3rd Vijay Hazare title.
The south zone touch
Teams from south zone- Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have the best records in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The duo have won the title eight times between them and have never lost in the final. Karnataka last won the trophy in the 2014-15 season.
Feats achieved in 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy
The 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy witnessed some breathtaking moments in the tournament with several batting records being tumbled. Karnataka's Mayank Agarwal set the record for most runs ever in a campaign with 723 runs in eight matches. The opener broke the record set by Dinesh Karthik in 2016-17, where he notched 607 runs. Mayank has hit the maximum sixes in a single campaign (17).
Mayank eclipses the Great Sachin's record
Mayank, who has been in red hot form with the willow, broke former legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar's record of most runs scored in a single tournament. Sachin had hit 673 runs in the 2003 ICC World Cup, and Mayank bettered it with 723 runs.

Vijay Hazare Trophy's history
Named after former Indian cricketer Vijay Hazare, the tournament is India's one of the biggest domestic cricket competitions. The tourney was originally inaugurated in 1993-94 and till 2001-02 no finals were held. Tamil Nadu hold the record for most title wins (5).
