Lopetegui likely to be replaced by Conte after El Clasico?
Last night was the final nail in the coffin of Julen Lopetegui's career as Real Madrid coach. Barcelona toyed with the Real Madrid line-up during their meeting at Camp Nou and handed them a 5-1 thrashing at the end of the match. Real have seen a steep downfall since their Champions League title win. Los Blancos management is likely to bring in Antonio Conte.
Real's run under Lopetegui
Real Madrid have played 14 matches under Julen, losing and winning six each, and drawing the remaining two. They currently stand ninth in the league table, seven points adrift of table-toppers Barcelona. Real lost matches against weaker opponents like Levante and Moscow. They also received a 0-3 thrashing by Sevilla. Notably, Los Blancos also saw their longest goal drought ever under Julen.
Conte already in talks for Real Madrid job
Reports suggest that Antonio Conte is already in talks with Real Madrid authorities to take over as their new manager. His deal with Chelsea is embroiled in a legal fiasco, and if it gets resolved, Real are ready to announce him the manager as early as today. If there is a delay, Santiago Solari will be appointed as the interim manager.
Conte has been successful wherever he went
Be it Juventus or Chelsea, success has followed Antonio Conte whichever club he has managed. With Juventus, Conte won Serie A on three consecutive occasions- 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2013-14. With Chelsea, he managed to win the Premier League in his very first season, and also gave them the FA Cup victory in 2017-18. Someone with his success rate is desperately needed at Madrid.
Ramos has a warning for Conte
Ramos has sent out a warning for Conte. He said that Conte will not be able to command respect from Los Blancos players, and has to earn it. He also added that man management is more important than one's technical knowledge.
