Shame IPL isn't going ahead, says Jos Buttler
What's the story
England international Jos Buttler expects that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 will be slotted later in the year.
Buttler feels the IPL is massive in terms of stature and it is a big shame that it cannot be held at the moment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier, the IPL was postponed until April 15.
Here's more on the same.
Pandemic
Coronavirus pandemic has affected the world severely
The coronavirus pandemic has affected more than 1,350,000 people around the world.
Meanwhile, more than 75,000 people have lost their lives.
In India, over 4,000 people have been affected with 138 deaths reported so far.
With the nation in lockdown, the IPL is likely to get canceled.
However, there could be a slight possibility of the tourney to be held later this year.

At the moment, everything is quite indefinite: Buttler
"I don't know any more than you know about when IPL would be played or people talking about whether it can be pushed back. At the moment, everything is quite indefinite as no one knows how long it will last. So it can't be decided at the moment when it could or could not happen," Buttler was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Revenue that is involved in IPL is massive: Buttler
Buttler spoke about the impact of not having IPL.
"As for the stature of the tournament, it's a massive, massive tournament. Revenue that is involved in IPL is massive. It is a very important competition to cricket and it's a big shame that it's not going ahead or whether it does have the way to push it in the schedule and allow it."

What if the IPL is pushed back?
Even if the IPL is pushed back this year, it could result in many top players could be missing the tournament due to their international bilateral commitments.
"Of course, that might mean certain players might be unavailable. They will have to work through as the situation unfolds," Buttler concluded.
