Australia's Jess Jonassen imitates SRK's iconic pose in WCPL 2024
Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen, added a dash of Bollywood to the ongoing Women's Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) 2024. During a game between Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Royals at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad, she celebrated an important wicket by replicating Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's famous pose. The second edition of WCPL has been attracting top international talent from T20 cricket.
Jonassen's performance and Bollywood-style celebration
The Bollywood-style celebration occurred in the 15th over of the Royals's innings when Jonassen dismissed Aaliyah Alleyne with an exceptional delivery. Immediately after claiming the wicket, she spread her arms wide in imitation of Khan's signature pose. Despite her team's loss, Jonassen's performance was a standout for the Knight Riders as she finished with impressive figures of 2/21 in her four-over spell.
Royals secure victory despite Jonassen's efforts
Despite Jonassen's impressive performance, her team could not secure a win. The Knight Riders, batting first, posted a total of 113/9 in their allotted 20 overs with contributions from captain Deandra Dottin (28 off 26) and Shikha Pandey (30 off 34). However, the Barbados-based franchise chased down this target with relative ease, winning by seven wickets with 17 balls to spare.
