ICC Test Rankings: West Indies pacer Jayden Seales gains big
West Indies pacer Jayden Seales jumped 13 places to be be placed 13th in the ICC Test Rankings for Bowlers. Seales, who impressed in West Indies' tour of England back in July, continued to gain prominence. He was in top form in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa at home. Seales is also West Indies' top wicket-taker in Tests this year.
Seales floored SA with 6/61 in the 2nd Test
On August 17, Seales produced a fine bowling display against South Africa in the 2nd Test match at Providence Stadium in Guyana. Seales, who took three wickets in the first innings, played a key role in taking figures worth 6/61 in SA's second innings. His efforts helped SA fold for 246. Seales managed 6/61 from 18.4 overs. However, SA won the Test match thereafter.
Seales clocks his best figures in Test cricket
Seales recorded figures worth 3/45 and 6/61 in the game. The 22-year-old has raced to 62 wickets across 15 Tests at an average of 23.67. He picked up his second five-wicket haul in Test cricket in addition to registering his best spell. As per ESPNcricinfo, in four matches versus the Proteas, Seales has claimed 17 wickets at 21.76.
Seales moves to 13th spot among bowlers
Seales, who was West Indies' top wicket-taker with 13 scalps in the series against England earlier, owns 687 rating points after jumping 13 berths. Jomel Warrican (up two spots to 52nd) and Shamar Joseph (up 11 spots to 54th) also gained some ground on the list. South Africa's Wiaan Mulder went up 27 places to 65th following his six wickets in the 2nd Test.
Holder moves up in Test Rankings for All-rounders
Jason Holder moved two spots to fifth in the ICC Test Rankings for All-rounders. He is behind India duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Holder had an impressive series versus SA. He moved ahead of Axar Patel and Ben Stokes.
SA's Markram and Verreynne move up among batters
South Africa duo Aiden Markram (up two places to 21st) and Kyle Verreynne (up 16 spots to equal 46th) were the gainers in the ICC Test Rankings for Batters. England's Joe Root maintains his place as the No. 1 ranked batter.
