Asia Cup 2018: India are better than others, says Jayawardene
Former Sri Lankan cricketer and legend Mahela Jayawardene has said India are better than the rest of teams, participating in the Asia 2018. India have enjoyed an excellent campaign in the ongoing Asia Cup and have maintained a 100% win record so far. The team led by stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma, has already booked a berth in the finale.
India are strong despite the absence of Kohli
In his column for The Times of India, the Sri Lankan praised the Indian side for being a force to reckon with, despite the absence of talisman Virat Kohli. He feels that this scenario would bring a lot of joy to the Indian management. He feels India's batting is powerful and consistent. And according to him, the bowling has the necessary power as well.
India have fared well under Rohit
India have fared well without their skipper Kohli and Rohit has led the team superbly. The assurance Rohit provides, allows the management to give timely rest to Kohli. India's bench strength is also strong and Rohit's knowledge of the team bodes well. Both his leadership attributes and handling of the side deserve special mention. India have played outstanding cricket in Asia Cup 2018.
Jayawardene backs Pakistan to reach final
Pakistan and Bangladesh face a knock-out battle in the Super Four and Jayawardene has put his money on the former to reach the final. Jayawardene stated that India's potential opponents in the final, Pakistan, have struggled with both their batting and bowling. He feels that the Pakistani team could still be a threat for India with the potential in them to uplift their game.
India, Pakistan could be up for another battle
If Pakistan do manage to beat Bangladesh, it will be for the third time that Sarfraz Ahmed's side will face India in the ongoing continental showpiece. In both the games against India, the Men in Green suffered big losses. India won the games by 8 and 9 wickets respectively. The bowling hasn't caused any trouble and their batsmen have flopped as well.
