The Sri Lankan team's poor performances, in 2017, forced Jayasuriya to step down from his post. Sri Lanka faced humiliating defeats in South Africa, followed by thrashing by Team India at home. One of the most decorated players of the sport, Jayasuriya amassed 13,000 runs in ODI cricket with 323 wickets also to his name. However, these days he is keeping a low profile.
