Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya charged under ICC Anti-Corruption Code
What's the story
Former Sri Lanka cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has been charged with two counts of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
The ex-Sri Lanka captain has been given a 14-day time to respond by the ICC.
This comes after Alex Marshall, general manager of the ICC anti-corruption unit, had announced an investigation regarding 'serious allegations of corruption' in Sri Lanka.

Jayasuriya charged with two counts of failing to co-operate
The 49-year-old former Lankan cricketer has been accused of failing to co-operate with the governing body (ACU) regarding an investigation.
Not just that, the all-rounder has also been charged with obstructing the investigation by 'concealing, tampering with or destroying evidence'.
He has been found guilty in relation to Article 2.4.6 and Article 2.4.7.

Jayasuriya a legendary player
Jayasuriya is one of the GOATs of ODI cricket.
He was the player of the tournament when Sri Lanka won the ICC World Cup in 1996.
The southpaw scored 28 centuries and took 323 scalps in 445 ODIs.
The legend also played 110 Test matches and averaged 40.07.
He retired from international cricket in 2011.
He played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

The ICC's ACU is currently investigating a sting operation which was carried on by Al Jazeera television, earlier this year. The documentary revealed match-fixers rigging Test matches between Sri Lanka and India in July in 2017 and then Sri Lanka versus Australia in August 2016.
