Records and stats of Jasprit Bumrah in IPL 2024
Jasprit Bumrah was the star of Mumbai Indians' lackluster 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign. While the five-time champions finished 10th, Bumrah took 20 wickets to power their bowling. Bumrah, arguably the best seamer in the cash-rich league, also claimed the Purple Cap on many occasions. He scripted several records throughout the season. Here are a few of them.
Bumrah averaged 16.80 in IPL 2024
As of now, Bumrah is one of only two bowlers with 20 or more wickets in IPL 2024. He is only behind Punjab Kings' Harshal Patel in terms of wickets. The PBKS seamer finished with 24 wickets. Bumrah bagged 20 scalps from 13 games at an incredible average of 16.80. He had a remarkable economy rate of 6.48.
Bumrah emulates Malinga's record
Bumrah equaled legend Lasith Malinga's record of taking 20-plus wickets in most seasons. The latter did so in four IPL seasons. Bumrah snapped up 20 wickets from 16 matches at 21.95 in IPL 2017. Notably, 2020 was his best season as he claimed 27 wickets at an economy of 6.73. Bumrah claimed 21 wickets in the subsequent 2021 season as well.
50 wickets at Wankhede Stadium
Bumrah made history when he joined Malinga as the second bowler ever to claim 50-plus IPL wickets at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Bumrah attained the milestone in Match 51 versus the Kolkata Knight Riders. He also became just the fifth bowler with 50-plus wickets at a venue in the IPL. Bumrah now owns 52 wickets at 23.50 at the Wankhede Stadium.
Bumrah entered record books with a fifer
Bumrah was on fire against Royal Challengers Bengaluru as he took a five-wicket haul. He joined the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, and James Faulkner with two five-wicket hauls in the IPL. Bumrah also became the first bowler with multiple fifers for MI in the IPL. Notably, he became the first bowler to claim an IPL fifer versus RCB.
