Fiorentina skipper Davide Astori passes away
Italian international defender and Serie A club Fiorentina skipper Davide Astori is no more. The 31-year-old was found dead in his hotel room. According to reports in Italian media, the defender died, while in his sleep in the hotel room, of a possible heart attack. Fiorentina was supposed to play against Udinese on Sunday. All Serie A matches scheduled for Sunday have been postponed.
Astori gone too soon
Astori leaves behind a two-year-old daughter. A club's spokesperson said he could not give a cause of death prior to the autopsy report. Football fraternity have since then expressed their condolences to the player and his family. Astori started his career with AC Milan and then represented Cagliari Calcio and AS Roma. He signed for Fiorentina in 2015 and played for Italy 14 times.
