#GamingBytes: Twitch streamer 'Shroud' to quit Apex Legends for PUBG
Michael 'Shroud' Grzesiek, the top Twitch streamer is all set to quit playing Apex Legends for good. He said that "[I have] about three games left [before quitting the game] forever". This comes after the Canadian took a break to recover from a scooter accident and played Escape from Tarkov and PUBG. Read on to know more about Shroud, his games, and his decision.
Who is Shroud and what makes him popular?
Michael Grzesiek, also known as, Shroud is a 24-year-old professional video gamer/Twitch streamer, who rose to fame in 2012 by playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. He has an impressive fan-base (over 6 million followers whom he regularly interacts with) and is known for playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Call of Duty Black Ops 4: Blackout, Ring of Elysium, Rainbow Six Siege and more recently Apex Legends.
Why is he planning to quit playing Apex Legends?
He is mainly frustrated because of laggy servers and a dearth of new content. His live-stream also showed the evidence of some slo-mo servers. "I'd rather play PUBG, and that's saying something. PUBG's in a really good state right now, actually." Shroud said. His followers, however, have requested more game of Apex Legends. Notably, he had almost quit playing PUBG a few months ago.
Why was he quitting PUBG; how did his opinion change?
Last October, Shroud was among those players who had voiced their opinion about PUBG's matchmaking-algorithm. "I'll probably play PUBG when there's a big, serious update. I'll probably give it a shot," Shroud explained. "I'm talking like, super serious. I'm not talking ranks or whatever." He might go back to playing PUBG now that the game has been updated. Also, he's not big on Fortnite.
Why does his opinion matter?
He is one of the top streamers and with the kind of following he has, he can be easily defined as an influencer in the gaming world. Since Battle Royales are all about community, streamers are an important aspect. Shroud's opinion matters because he is a key player (literally) in the community. His concerns are valid too because Apex Legends hasn't released much content.
What's next for PUBG and Apex Legends?
PUBG is still very much relevant as far as Twitch streaming goes and has been releasing regular updates, new weapons, and cosmetic items. Apex Legends, on the other hand, has experienced a dip in active players because of a lackluster Battle Pass and unimpressive new launches. For streamers, the most popular game is Fortnite, which is famous for releasing a whole lot of content!
