MI vs CSK: Best encounters in IPL so far
Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are two of the most successful sides in the history of IPL. This is one of the biggest modern day rivalries in league cricket. They have met each other in 3 IPL finals with Mumbai Indians emerging triumphant in 2 of those occasions. Here we look at the biggest ties between these two sides.
2010 Indian Premier League final
Mumbai Indians skippered by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings were in the hunt for their first title. CSK opted to bat first and set a target of 169 riding on Raina's 57. Mumbai failed to build partnerships as wickets kept tumbling and Sachin's 48-run knock wasn't enough. Mumbai lost the final by 22 runs.
2013 Indian Premier League final
Having tasted defeat in 2010, Mumbai, now under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, had a whole new vigour about them. Batting first Mumbai managed 148 with Pollard's top score of 60 off 32 balls making the difference. In reply, CSK kept losing wickets with as many as 4 ducks. Even Dhoni's 63* couldn't stop Mumbai from claiming their first title.
2015 Indian Premier League final
The two sides met once again in the final of the 2015 edition. Batting first, Simmons got Mumbai off to an explosive start and contributions from Rohit, Pollard and Rayudu ensured Mumbai set a target of 203. The target was way beyond Chennai's reach as tight spells from McClenaghan and Malinga ensured that the Super Kings could muster just 161 runs.
