Indian cricketer Shardul Thakur was admitted to a hospital on October 2 owing to a viral infection. Thakur, who contracted the infection during the ongoing Irani Cup match, now has been discharged. As a result of his health condition, the all-rounder is likely to sit out of the first innings for Rest of India. The news was confirmed by Mumbai team manager Bhushan Patil.

Unfortunately, his health deteriorated further during the innings due to the hot and humid conditions. This led to his hospitalization soon after stumps while his teammates returned to their hotel.

Thakur was discharged from the hospital on Day 3 when Mohit Avasthi and Juned Khan resumed Mumbai's innings. Blood tests conducted during his hospital stay revealed no major illness.
