2019 Indian Premier League is set to start from March 23 onwards. The 12th edition of the tourney could witness Sunrisers Hyderabad clinching their second title in four years. Over the last few seasons, we have seen SRH grow as a side and they are consistent with their performances. Can 2019 be SRH's year? Here we decode the same.
SRH can defend low scores easily
In 2018 edition of the IPL, we saw SRH successfully defending modest scores with a lot of ease. Their bowlers put in performances that helped them win low-scoring contests. SRH know that they are always in the game, even if their batsmen have an off day. This is the strength of their bowling unit. The team's attitude on the field has to be lauded.
A dream pace attack to put your money on
There's no doubt that SRH have the best pace bowling unit in the IPL. It's filled with a host of Indian bowlers, who are versatile with their offerings. SRH rotate the pacers well and no matter who comes in always impresses. They have an able foreigner in Billy Stanlake as well. SRH are a side that thrives on pacers and this would help them.
SRH's two prime spinners are world class names
SRH have perhaps the best T20 spinner in the world in the form of Rashid Khan. The Afghan sensation has played in two seasons of IPL and he has already picked 38 scalps. Last season, the leg-spinner grabbed 21 wickets at an economy rate of 6.73. The impact of Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is huge as well. Shakib is a captain's delight.
Two strong leaders in Warner and Williamson
David Warner has been the crux of this SRH side and has fired with the bat consistently. Last season he was banned for the IPL, but he is now set to make a return. He has been an aggressive leader. Once Warner departs for World Cup duties, Kane Williamson will take over. Williamson's calmness and precision helped SRH reach the final of IPL 11.
SRH's big four foreign stars add flair in batting
Warner won two Orange Caps for being the top run-scorer in IPL while playing for SRH. Last season it was Williamson that won the prestigious award. These two are consistent with the bat and offer so much for the team. Add Jonny Bairstow to the side and you have another solid T20 player. The aggressive Martin Guptill will add more firepower when called upon.
