IPL - Shreyas Iyer helps Delhi defeat Gujarat
Shreyas Iyer, single handedly, helped Delhi Daredevils defeat Gujarat Lions in the 50th match of the 2017 Indian Premier League. Chasing 196 runs, Iyer stood tall and went on to score 96 runs from 57 balls, his highest in IPL till now. The partnership of 61 runs between Iyer and Cummins, for the eight wicket, was the turning point in this chase.
Gujarat, Delhi face each-other with nothing to lose
Placed on the sixth and the seventh place respectively, Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils will face each other in an inconsequential encounter. With both the teams out of the race, they will only look to finish their IPL on a decent note. Gujarat have lost Brendon McCullum to an injury, while Rabada and Morris have left the Delhi squad to join their national team.
Their first encounter in 2017 IPL
In the previous encounter between Delhi and Gujarat, Delhi chased down a mammoth score of 208 runs easily to win the match by seven wickets. Rishabh Pant led the chase as he put on a phenomenal performance, scoring 97 runs off just 43 balls.
Finch scores 69 to guide Gujarat to 195 runs
Aaron Finch fired a 39-ball-69 run innings to guide Gujarat Lions to 195 runs after they were put to bat first by Delhi. He put on a 92-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Dinesh Karthik, with the latter scoring 40 from 28 balls. Opener Ishan Kishan scored 34 runs, before he was caught by Zaheer Khan off Amit Mishra.
