From Chris Gayle to AB de Villiers, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen several legends wreak havoc with their blades. Universe Boss Gayle, who is known for hitting huge sixes, holds the record for smashing the joint-most runs in an over in the IPL. Several other batters who have featured in the cash-rich league grace this list. Here are some of them.
Chris Gayle vs KTK, IPL 2011
During IPL 2011, Gayle hammered a 16-ball 44 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala as Royal Challengers Bengaluru chased down 126 in just 13.1 overs. As many as 36 of his runs came in a single over bowled by Prasanth Parameswaran. Gayle smashed 4 sixes and 3 boundaries to enter the record books. Parameswaran also bowled a no-ball in the over, taking the tally to 37.
Ravindra Jadeja vs RCB, IPL 2021
Over a decade later, Chennai Super Kings' Ravindra Jadeja emulated Gayle by scoring 36 runs off one over. Jadeja went berserk, having smashed 5 sixes and a boundary in the 20th over bowled by Harshal Patel. The over also included a double and a no-ball, which took the tally of runs to 37. CSK won that match by 69 runs.
Pat Cummins vs MI, IPL 2022
Pat Cummins, who is known for his searing spells, played a blazing knock for Kolkata Knight Riders against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022.
