Ready to rock and roll this year, says KKR's Lynn
Kolkata Knight Riders start their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens on March 24 in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The eastern giants will be looking to get off to a strong start and rely on their core set of impact players. Australian opening batsman Chris Lynn has a lot riding on his shoulders. Here's more.
Lynn needs to be solid for KKR upfront
Lynn had a strong campaign last season and he scored 491 runs at a strike-rate of 130.23. His role was to play longer and allow Sunil Narine to give the side a fast start. This term we expect a similar approach from the two opening batsmen. Lynn needs to score emphatically once again to help KKR go far in the league.
Early momentum is important, says Lynn
Lynn is eyeing early momentum for KKR and feels that will be important in their campaign. "Ready to rock and roll this year. Early momentum is important and hopefully we can go one or two better than last year," Lynn told India Today.
I expect high standards of myself: Lynn
Lynn is a senior player and he will be needed to lead the way. "There's always expectation but I'm the hardest marker of everyone. I expect high standards of myself but the body is first and foremost and that is really good at the moment. I have got a job to do at the top of the order for KKR," highlighted the aggressive batsman.
Lynn will hope to go out and give his all
KKR would want Lynn to go out and express himself besides being fit for the entire campaign. Prior to last season, the dashing opener had issues due to injuries and that hampered his growth. It's a big positive sign for KKR with Lynn feeling good in terms of his fitness at the moment. KKR finished third last season.
KKR are battling with issues at the moment
KKR are already having issues as far as injuries are concerned. They earlier lost Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi due to injuries. KC Cariappa and Kerala pacer Sandeep Warrier were roped in as replacements. Now the side has lost another pacer in the form of Anrich Nortje. He has been ruled out with a shoulder injury. His replacement is yet to be announced.
