Have a look at lesser-known IPL records of Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant recently became the first batter to complete 3,000 runs for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He reached this landmark in Match 26 of IPL 2024 against the Lucknow Super Giants. Pant, who made a comeback after suffering multiple injuries in a fatal car crash, has been sensational for DC as a wicketkeeper-batter. Here are his lesser-known IPL records.
Youngest left-hander with an IPL ton
Pant remains the youngest left-handed batter to score a century in the IPL (20 years and 218 days). He slammed an unbeaten 128*(63) against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2018. Overall, Pant is only behind Manish Pandey in terms of youngest IPL centurions. The latter smashed an unbeaten 114 against Deccan Chargers in the second IPL edition (2009).
Only player with 100+ appearances for DC
Pant, who started his IPL journey with DC in 2016, has been their mainstay batter ever since. Besides being DC's highest run-scorer in the IPL, he also has the most appearances for them. Pant has played 105 IPL matches for DC.
Over 100 IPL sixes for DC
Pant remains the only batter with over 100 sixes for the Capitals in the IPL. He has a total of 141 IPL maximums for DC. Pant leads this tally by miles as his closest rival is David Warner (93).
Joint second-most sixes for DC in an innings
Pant hammered a 43-ball 97 against Gujarat Lions in IPL 2017. His tally included 9 sixes, the joint second-most for DC in an IPL innings with Kevin Pietersen (vs Deccan Chargers in 2012). Only Shreyas Iyer has more maximums in this regard (10).
Pant dominates these bowlers
Several bowling greats have been on the receiving end when facing Pant's uncanny bravado. For instance, Pant has a strike rate of 239.39 against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who owns the most dot balls in IPL history. The former strikes at 144.64 against leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Pant has smacked 8 sixes and 3 fours off 43 balls against Mohammed Siraj (SR: 190.69).
