IPL: Presenting highest unbeaten scores in unsuccessful run-chases
Rohit Sharma slammed a magnificent century against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium. Rohit (105*) carried his bat but couldn't help MI chase down 207. The hosts were restricted to 186/6 and lost by 20 runs. Rohit, who broke several records in Mumbai, also smashed the highest unbeaten score in unsuccessful IPL run-chases, as per Cricket Statistician Bharath Seervi.
Rohit Sharma: 105*(63) vs CSK, IPL 2024
Rohit scripted history at Wankhede with his splendid knock. However, MI couldn't get home as no other batter assisted him. The former MI skipper slammed an unbeaten 105 off 63 balls, a knock laced with 11 fours and 5 sixes. This is now the highest unbeaten score in unsuccessful IPL run-chases. Rohit also became the first player with multiple IPL tons for MI.
KL Rahul: 95*(70) v RR, IPL 2018
As per Seervi, Rohit remains the only centurion in a losing cause (run-chases) in the IPL. KL Rahul follows Rohit on the list, having slammed an unbeaten 95(70) for Punjab Kings against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2018. Rahul's knock came in PBKS' run-chase of 159. He smashed the highest percentage of their runs (143/7), with no other batter even crossing 15.
Naman Ojha: 94*(55) vs CSK, IPL 2010
Naman Ojha played a valiant knock for RR against CSK at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in IPL 2010. The Yellow Army gave RR a 247-run target, riding on a special century (127) from Murali Vijay. Later, RR opener Ojha smashed an unbeaten 94 off 55 balls (8 fours and 6 sixes). However, he couldn't get RR home as they lost by 23 runs.
Virat Kohli: 92*(62) vs MI, IPL 2018
Virat Kohli has been the lone warrior for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in numerous matches. He single-handedly carried RCB's innings in the 2018 clash against MI at the Wankhede Stadium. Chasing 214, RCB were off to a solid start but suffered a middle-order collapse. They eventually lost by 46 runs, with Kohli scoring a 62-ball 92 (7 fours and 4 sixes).
