What's the story
As the Indian Premier League (IPL) trade window got shut down on Friday ahead of the auction next month, we also saw franchises release players.
Royal Challengers Bangalore released a total of 12 players.
They will hope to find a new strategy in the auction.
Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad released five players each.

SRH and CSK
SRH release some big names, CSK free fringe players
SRH were forced to release Shakib Al Hasan after the player was earlier banned by the ICC for not reporting corrupt approaches.
The all-rounder was joined by veteran batsman Yusuf Pathan.
Meanwhile, the franchises also released Deepak Hooda, Ricky Bhui and Martin Guptill.
Separately, CSK went on to release the likes of Mohit Sharma, David Willey, Dhruv Shorey, Sam Billings and Chaitanya Bishnoi.
DC
DC let go off star foreign names
Delhi Capitals, who roped in Indian stars Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin in the trade window, released a host of names.
The major highlight was seeing the likes of foreigners Chris Morris, Colin Ingram and Colin Munro.
Besides these three, Ankush Bains, B Ayyappa, Hanuma Vihari, Jalaj Saxena, Manjot Kalra and Nathu Singh were released as well.
DC have had a busy period.
KKR
KKR surprise everyone after releasing star names
Kolkata Knight Riders surprised one and all after releasing star players from their roster.
The biggest move was to release Chris Lynn.
The Aussie has been a major force atop for KKR.
Besides Lynn, veterans Piyush Chawla and Robin Uthappa were released as well.
All-rounder Carlos Brathwaite, who was a mega signing last season, was let go off as well.

RCB will have a lot of work to do in the auction after releasing 11 players that include a host of star foreigners.
The Virat Kohli-led side has been woeful of late and has serious work in hand.

Royals need to re-think strategy after releasing 11 players
Rajasthan Royals followed the footsteps of KKR and RCB and went big in releasing 11 players.
The franchise will need to chalk out a plan after departing with Rahane in the trade window.
Here's the list of released players: Aryaman Birla, Ashton Turner, Ish Sodhi, Jaydev Unadkat, Liam Livingstone, Oshane Thomas, Prashant Chopra, Rahul Tripathi, Shubham Ranjane, Stuart Binny, Sudhesan Midhun.

Champions Mumbai release a pile of pacers
Mumbai Indians roped in some key names including Trent Boult in the trade window.
The champions have all bases covered and retained the core.
However, they did away with many foreign pacers.
One expects a more polished approach in the auction.
