IPL 2022 Auction: Yuzvendra Chahal sold to RR
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Saturday saw Indian wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal be bought by Rajasthan Royals. RR spent Rs. 6.5 crore for the services of Chahal. Chahal was earlier released by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Teams had an intense bidding war for the established IPL ace. He played a prominent role for RCB over the years.
Chahal's IPL numbers
In 114 matches, Chahal has racked up 139 wickets at 22.28, He has an economy rate of 7.59. Chahal has recorded the best bowling figures of 4/25. Chahal has two four-wicket hauls. His best performance in a season was in 2015 (23 scalps). He has also taken 21 wickets twice in 2016 and 2020 respectively. In IPL 2021, he finished with 18 scalps.

RR had retained these players
The inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals retained just three cricketers during the players' retention. The Rajasthan-based team's first retention was their skipper Sanju Samson (Rs. 14 crore). They secured the services of England's wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler for Rs. 10 crore. RR are paying Rs. 4 crore to young and upcoming Indian star Yashasvi Jaiswal.
