IPL 2022 Auction: West Indies' Nicholas Pooran sold to SRH
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Saturday saw West Indies cricketer Nicholas Pooran be bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Orange Army spent Rs. 10.75 crore for the services of Pooran. Pooran was earlier released by Punjab Kings. Pooran will aim to show his pedigree for SRH with the bat. He had an ordinary performance in the just-concluded ODI series versus India.

Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, and SRH were involved in a bidding war to get Pooran. The Orange Army sealed the deal eventually. Pooran will boost the middle order of SRH that has lagged in the previous few seasons.
A look at Pooran's IPL stats
Pooran made his IPL debut for Punjab Kings in the 2019 season. The Caribbean middle-order batter smashed 168 runs in that season at a strike rate of 157. He had a stellar season in 2020, having slammed 353 runs at a staggering strike rate of 169.71. Pooran failed to deliver in 2021, registering just 85 runs. He would want to shine for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In a career spanning nearly a decade, Pooran has played as many as 214 T20 matches. He has smashed over 4,000 runs (4,110) at an average of 24.90. The left-handed batter has a strike rate of 142.46 in the shortest format. Pooran has hammered 261 fours and 286 sixes so far. The tally includes one century and 20 fifties.
