The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Saturday saw uncapped Indian batter Rahul Tripathi be bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Orange Army spent a whopping Rs. 8.5 crore for the services of Tripathi. The versatile batter was released by KKR earlier. Tripathi was a key asset for KKR of late with his versatility. He adds a lot of depth for SRH.

Tripathi made his IPL debut in the 2017 season for Rising Pune Supergiants. He emerged as one of the finds of that season. His remarkable hand-eye coordination made headlines. Tripathi helped Pune reach their first final in 2017. Tripathi moved to Kolkata Knight Riders later on. However, he was released by the Knight Riders following the 2021 season.
