IPL Auction: R Ashwin sold to RR
Rajasthan Royals snapped Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the IPL 2022 Auction on Saturday. Ashwin has earned a whopping deal of Rs. 5 crore after the teams got into a bidding war for him. Ashwin was released by Delhi Capitals after the 2021 season. He has also captained Punjab Kings for two seasons.
Ashwin played in the inaugural season
Ashwin made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural season (2008). He was a mainstay off-spinner for the Yellow Army until the 2015 season. Ashwin played for Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016 and 2017. The Indian spinner led Punjab in 2018 and 2019. Ashwin played for Delhi Capitals in the last two seasons (2020 and 2021).
Sixth-highest wicket-taker in the IPL
To date, Ashwin has played 167 matches in the Indian Premier League. He has picked 145 wickets at an average of 27.80 so far. Ashwin is the sixth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He has the best match haul of 4/34.

In Ashwin, RR get a seasoned campaigner. He has been recently playing in the white-ball formats as well for India, making a return. Ashwin, who had earlier led PBKS, will be a star attraction for RR. He would want to continue his rich IPL form.
