IPL 2022 Auction: Dwayne Bravo goes back to CSK
The reigning Indian Premier League (IPL) title holders Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have acquired the services of the ace West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo for the 15th edition of the league. The Chennai-based outfit spent Rs. 4.40 crore to retain him after a bidding war with Delhi Capitals. Notably, the MS Dhoni-led outfit had released the pace-bowling all-rounder ahead of the auction. A look at Bravo's numbers in IPL
Bravo was instrumental during CSK's title-winning campaign in 2021. He picked 14 wickets in 11 games, besides scoring 47 runs, during the previous edition of the tournament. Overall, he has played 151 games in the competition and scored 1,537 runs at 22.94. He has struck five fifties. Bravo has picked 167 wickets at 24.32 while maintaining an economy rate of 8.36.
Players retained by CSK
Before the start of the auction, the four-time IPL champions had retained four players - three Indians and one overseas. They acquired the services of India's spin-bowling all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for Rs. 16 crore. They shelled out Rs. 12 crore for their skipper MS Dhoni. Chennai are paying Rs. 8 crore to England all-rounder Moeen Ali while retaining Ruturaj Gaikwad for Rs. 6 crore.
Bravo's journey in IPL
Bravo started his IPL journey with Mumbai Indian in 2008. He spent three seasons with Mumbai before moving to CSK in 2011. He was retained by Chennai in 2014. He shifted his loyalties to Gujarat Lions after getting picked by the side during the 2016 players' draft. Bravo returned to CSK in 2018 after they used the RTM card to retain him.
