IPL 2022 Auction: Devdutt Padikkal goes to RR
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Saturday saw Indian batter Devdutt Padikkal be bought by Rajasthan Royals. The Royals spent a whopping Rs. 7.75 crore for the services of Padikkal. Padikkal will aim to show his pedigree for RR in the top-order. Padikkal's IPL numbers
Devdutt Padikkal was the standout performer for RCB in IPL 2021. He racked up 411 runs for three-time finalists in 14 games at 31.61. He also struck one century and one fifty during the previous edition of the tournament. Overall, he has scored 884 runs in 29 IPL games at 31.57. He has smashed six half-centuries and one ton in the marquee event.
RR had retained these players
The inaugural IPL champions Rajasthan Royals retained just three cricketers during the players' retention. The Rajasthan based team's first retention was their skipper Sanju Samson (Rs. 14 crore). They secured the services of England's wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler for Rs. 10 crore. RR are paying Rs. 4 crore to young and upcoming Indian star Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Rajasthan have been superb in the auction
Besides Padikkal, the Royals have added Trent Boult in the side for a whopping Rs. 8 crore. They also got the services for West Indies star Shimron Hetmyer for Rs. 8.5 crore. RR have also bought veteran Indian spinner R Ashwin for Rs. 5 crore.
