Delhi Capitals have been the most improved side in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in recent years and they have once again built a good squad at the mega auction for the 2022 season. They retained four players before the auction - Rishabh Pant (16 crore), Axar Patel (9 crore), Prithvi Shaw (7.5 crore), and Anrich Nortje (6.5 crore). Here we decode Delhi's squad.

Key buys during the auction
Delhi's biggest buy on Saturday was Shardul Thakur. They shelled out Rs. 10.75 crore for his services. DC snapped swashbuckling Australia opener David Warner for Rs. 6.25 crore. They have found a perfect replacement for Marcus Stoinis in Mitchell Marsh. They spent Rs. 6.50 crore to acquire Marsh's services. Kuldeep Yadav and Mustafizur Rahman were also bought by Delhi for Rs. 2 crore each.
What can be DC's playing XI in IPL 2022?
DC have an explosive opening combination in the form of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner. KS Bharat can come in at number three. Rishabh Pant will follow suit. He and Mitchell Marsh will bolster the middle-order. Axar Patel brings experience. Lait Yadav is the second spinner. Kamlesh Nagarkoti brings youthful energy. Shardul Thakur, Anrich Nortje, and Chetan Sakariya can fill up the side.
Delhi Capitals look sorted once again
Delhi have ticked all the boxes during the auction. They have a perfect opening pair in Shaw and Warner. They have both spin-bowling (Axar Patel)and pace-bowling all-rounders (Mitchell Marsh) in their squad. DC have a solid spin unit. Nortje will lead Delhi's pace unit, which has a lot of character. The bench strength is there to see as DC eye a maiden title.
