IPL: Varun Chakravarthy bounces back with two wickets against RR
What's the story
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakravarthy displayed his brilliance in Match 6 of IPL 2025 against Rajasthan Royals.
Chakravarthy put on a show at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, returning with brilliant figures of 2/17 in four overs.
The strong comeback was important after a poor season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 at Eden Gardens.
Match impact
An astute Chkaravarthy chokes RR
In the RR match, Chakravarthy's smart use of the pitch was instrumental in choking their runs.
As RR aimed to post a big target with their explosive top order, Chakravarthy stepped in to dismiss Riyan Parag and then send Wanindu Hasaranga packing in his second over.
RR's decision to send Hasaranga ahead of Shimron Hetmyer backfired. With the former's dismissal, RR were down to 76/4.

Chakravarthy shines after faltering against RCB
In the IPL 2025 opener, Chakravarthy had an off day with 1/43 in four overs against the Royal Challengers.
It was surprising given he was India's unexpected pick for the Champions Trophy and had been doing exceptionally well since September 2024.
Despite the setback, his performance against RR proved he is still one of the top bowlers in T20 cricket.
