IPL 2025, LSG: Squad analysis, schedule, Probable XI, and more
What's the story
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) stole the show at the IPL 2025 mega auction by signing Indian wicketkeeper-battter Rishabh Pant for a staggering ₹27 crore.
The signing broke Punjab Kings's record for Shreyas Iyer's purchase at ₹26.75 crore.
Released by Delhi Capitals, Pant will now captain LSG, taking over from former skipper KL Rahul, who left the team after three seasons.
LSG will march forward with a solid line-up.
Team update
LSG's strengths and weaknesses
Ahead of the auction, LSG had retained five players - Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran, and Mayank Yadav.
With Pant joining the squad, LSG will have a more aggressive captaincy and a stronger batting line-up.
The Super Giants have an incredible middle order with the presence of David Miller.
The side also strengthened their pace attack by picking Akash Deep and Avesh Khan. However, the Bishnoi-led spin department will have to step up.

IPL 2024
How LSG fared in IPL 2024
Lucknow Super Giants failed to secure the playoff berth in IPL 2024.
The KL Rahul-led side lacked the grit and determination as they claimed seven wins and as many defeats. Their NRR of -0.667 was the lowest among the top seven teams.
Notably, the Super Giants won five of their first eight matches.
Rahul finished IPL 2024 with 520 runs at 37.14. However, his strike-rate of 136.13 was the lowest among players with 300-plus runs in the season.
