This 18th season is especially important as it could well be MS Dhoni's last appearance in the cash-rich league.

CSK's strengths and weaknesses
Experience has been one of CSK's biggest strengths.
This is further bolstered by Ravichandran Ashwin's return after a decade. The return of Ashwin-Jadeja duo will be a treat for the fans.

Legacy
How CSK fared in IPL 2024
CSK have been five-time IPL champions, winning the title in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023.
The Yellow Army narrowly missed out on a playoff berth in 2024. They bowed out after losing their final league-stage fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Though the target was 219, CSK needed 201 to secure a fourth-place finish. However, they were restricted to 191/7.
The Super Kings finished fifth in the table with seven wins in 14 matches (NRR: +0.392).
