IPL 2024, SRH beat RCB in high-scoring feast: Key stats
Sunrisers Hyderabad have thrashed Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 25 runs in Match 30 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). It was a high-scoring affair at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as nearly 550 runs were on display. While centurion Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen starred for SRH, Faf du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik scored fifties in a losing cause. Here are the key stats.
SRH post a mammoth total
Head was at his aggressive best as he attacked the bowlers straightaway. His opening partner Abhishek Sharma (34) complemented the Australian well as the duo added 102 runs. Klaasen then took over the baton as the scoring rate continued to surge. Aiden Markram (32*) and Abdul Samad (37*) added 56 runs in the final three overs as SRH finished at 287/3.
A brilliant fight from RCB
RCB were off to a stellar start as du Plessis (62) added 80 runs with Virat Kohli (42) for the first wicket. However, the team then lost five wickets inside 42 runs. Karthik and Mahipal Lomror reignited RCB's hopes with a 59-run partnership. Though Karthik batted exceptionally well for his 83, RCB were restricted to 262/7.
Second-highest T20 total
Notably, SRH broke their own record for the highest IPL total. They compiled 277/3 against Mumbai Indians last month. As Kolkata Knight Riders posted 272/7 against Delhi Capitals, the top-three highest team totals in IPL history have come this season. Meanwhile, SRH's 287/3 is now the second-highest T20 total. Nepal hold the record for posting 314/3 against Mongolia in September last year.
Third fifty for Klaasen this season
Klaasen made 67 off just 31 balls with the help of two boundaries and seven maximums. Meanwhile, this was Klaasen's third fifty in IPL 2024 as he has raced to 253 runs across six games, striking at 199.21 Overall, the South African dasher owns 767 runs from 25 IPL matches at 42.61 (SR: 175.51). He registered his fifth IPL fifty (100s: 1).
Other records scripted by SRH
SRH breached the 200-run mark in 15 overs, the third-fastest for any team in IPL history. The Orange Army hit a total of 24 sixes, the highest for a team in an IPL innings. As many as four RCB bowlers conceded 50-plus runs. This is the first instance of more than two bowlers conceding as many or more runs in an IPL innings.
Fastest ton for SRH
Notably, Head recorded the fastest hundred by a SRH batter as he reached the milestone off just 39 balls. He ended up scoring a 41-ball 102 (9 fours, 8 sixes). Head overall slammed the fourth-quickest IPL ton. He is only behind Chris Gayle (30 balls), Yusuf Pathan (37 balls), and David Miller (38 balls).

Head made a return to IPL this year, having last featured in the competition in 2017. In 15 IPL matches, Head now owns 440 runs at 36.66. He owns two fifties besides a ton. His strike rate reads 165.41. He has raced to 235 runs in IPL 2024 at a strike rate of 235.
A fine hand from du Plessis
Du Plessis batted with intent as he scored a 28-ball 62 (7 fours, 4 sixes). He now owns 4,365 IPL runs at 36.68. This was his 35th fifty. 1,430 of his runs have come for RCB at 40.85. He has raced past 500 (now 546) runs against SRH at 36.40 (50s: 5). Du Plessis now has 232 runs in IPL 2024 at 33.14.
Highest team total while chasing
RCB's 262/7 is now the highest team total in the second innings of a T20 game. They went past South Africa's 259/4 versus West Indies last year. This was overall the fifth-highest total in IPL and the second-highest for RCB. As per Cricbuzz, this match recorded seven 50-plus stands, the highest in a T20 game.
Highest match aggregate in T20 history
A total of 549 runs were recorded in the game. This is the highest match aggregate in T20 history. The match also tallied the joint-most sixes in the 20-over format (38). The SRH vs MI game last month also recorded as many maximums. For the first time in IPL history, five bowlers conceded 50 or more runs in a match.
A stunning spell from Cummins
In a game where over 500 runs were scored, Cummins bowled well to return with 3/43 in four overs. With this three-fer, Cummins has raced to 54 wickets across 48 IPL games at 28.62. His economy reads 8.45. In the ongoing season, the SRH skipper now owns nine wickets across six games at a brilliant economy of 7.87.
A stellar knock from Karthik
Karthik played arguably his best IPL knock, smashing a 35-ball 83. The middle-order batter smacked 5 fours and 7 sixes. He brought up his fifty in just 23 balls. With this fifty, Karthik has raced to 226 runs in IPL 2024 at a strike rate of 205.45 (50s: 2). He overall owns 4,742 IPL runs at 26.64 (837 for RCB at 26.15).
Highest strike rate in death overs this season
As per ESPNcricinfo, Karthik's strike rate of 252.85 in overs between 16 and 20 this season is the best among batters who have faced at least 40 deliveries in this phase. 177 of his 226 runs have come in death overs. Klaasen trails Karthik with a strike rate of 231.48.
Key updates in points table
This was RCB's fifth defeat on the bounce as they continue to reel at the bottom of the table with just one win in seven games (NRR: -1.185). SRH, meanwhile, now hold the fourth position with four wins in six outings (NRR: +0.502)
