IPL 2024, SRH vs RCB: Here are key player battles
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are set to clash in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season reverse fixture at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. While SRH are coming off four successive victories, RCB have already lost seven games. Notably, the previous SRH-RCB match saw Hyderabad score a record-breaking 287/3. The upcoming encounter too offers several interesting player battles. Here are the same.
Faf du Plessis vs Pat Cummins
RCB skipper Faf du Plessis smashed a 28-ball 62 against SRH in Bengaluru. However, his knock went in vain as the hosts lost despite scoring 262/7. Notably, SRH skipper Pat Cummins removed du Plessis in that match. The duo will once again be at loggerheads. Cummins has dismissed du Plessis thrice in T20 cricket, while the latter strikes at 163.79 in this regard.
Heinrich Klaasen vs Lockie Ferguson
Heinrich Klaasen's exploits against spin in T20 cricket require no introduction. He has fallen twice to spinners this season, having struck at a staggering 208.92. Therefore, RCB would back their seamers against the South African dasher. Lockie Ferguson has dismissed Klaasen once but conceded 19 runs off 11 balls. The latter owns 2 sixes and a four in this battle.
Virat Kohli vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Virat Kohli's form has been one of the positives for RCB in IPL 2024. With 379 runs, Kohli is the incumbent Orange Cap holder, however, RCB have been on the losing track. Nevertheless, Kohli is set to face Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has dismissed the former four times in the IPL. Meanwhile, Kohli strikes at 143.82 in this battle (128 off 89 balls).
Abhishek Sharma vs Yash Dayal
While Travis Head has been bashing the bowlers in IPL 2024, his opening partner Abhishek Sharma isn't far behind. He owns a strike rate of 215.96 in the ongoing season. RCB could use left-arm seamer Yash Dayal to stop Abhishek from going berserk. Dayal has dismissed Abhishek once in three innings (129.41). Notably, left-arm seamers have dismissed Abhishek eight times in 27 IPL innings.
