Rahmanullah Gurbaz has completed 4,000 runs in T20 cricket. The Kolkata Knight Riders opener reached the milestone with his 15th run in Qualifier 1 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad. The 22-year-old Gurbaz has been a formidable force in the format. Playing his 168th game, the wicketkeeper-batter has raced past 4,000 runs as he averages around 25. His strike rate is in excess of 148 as the tally includes 25 fifties and a couple of centuries. 121* reads his best score in the format.
Over 1,300 runs in T20Is
Gurbaz has also made a significant mark in T20I cricket. Having played 55 matches, Gurbaz owns 1,376 runs at an average of 25.01. In addition to his seven fifties, he owns a ton with a strike rate of 138.01. The youngster is Afghanistan's fifth-highest run-getter in the format. Gurbaz made his IPL debut last season as KKR bought him in the 2023 player auction. Though he blew hot and cold, the keeper-batter became the first Afghanistan batter to score an IPL fifty.
