IPL 2024: Ashwin takes three-fer in high-scoring encounter against DC
Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took three wickets for Rajasthan Royals against Delhi Capitals in Match 56 of IPL 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Ashwin restricted DC's runs in the middle overs even though they smashed 221/8 after being invited to bat. The off-spinner also dismissed the dangerous Jake Fraser-McGurk, who slammed a 20-ball 50. Ashwin was introduced in the attack in the fifth over to stop a blazing Fraser-McGurk. The gamble paid off as Ashwin dismissed the Australian dasher on his second delivery. Ashwin then removed Axar Patel before getting rid of DC's other half-centurion, Abishek Porel. Ashwin conceded just 24 runs in four overs, with every other bowler conceding over eight runs per over.

Ashwin, who has played for a host of franchises, now owns five wickets from 10 games in IPL 2024 . He has not been among the wickets this season. The off-spinner has snapped up 31 scalps in 40 IPL games at 39.03 for RR in the IPL. He is still the third-highest wicket-taker for Chennai Super Kings, with 90 wickets at 24.22.
