Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by 10 runs in Match 43 of the Indian Premier League. In reply, MI fought well thanks to fiery knocks from Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma. However, they narrowly fall short.
Fraser-McGurk leads the charge for DC
Jake Fraser-McGurk destroyed the MI bowling attack with a career-best 27-ball 84 in the powerplay overs. Abishek Porel (36 off 27) and Shai Hope (41 off 17) also batted well as MI bowlers never breathed easy. Besides Rishabh Pant (29 off 19), Tristan Stubbs (48* off 25) went big in the death overs as DC compiled their highest team total, 257/4.
MI fall short
MI were off to a poor start as top-order batters Rohit Sharma (8), Ishan Kishan (20), and Suryakumar Yadav (26) departed early. Hardik (46) joined forces with Tilak as the duo rescued MI with a 71-run stand for the fourth wicket. Following Hardik's departure, Tilak joined Tim David as the duo went big toward the end. However, their efforts eventually went in vain.
DC post their highest IPL total
DC registered their highest IPL total. Their previous-highest score was 231/4 versus Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2011. Overall, this was the eighth 250-plus score in the ongoing season. In fact, eight of the nine highest IPL totals have come in 2024.
A breathtaking knock from Fraser-McGurk
Though Fraser-McGurk lasted just 27 balls, he slammed 11 boundaries and six maximums during his 84-run knock. Fraser-McGurk slammed the joint-fastest half-century for DC in IPL, off 15 balls. The Australian matched his own record as the dasher reached the milestone off as many deliveries against Sunrisers Hyderabad as well earlier in the season. With this fifty, the 20-year-old has raced to 247 runs across five IPL games (50s: 3). His strike rate of 237.50 is the highest among batters with 50-plus IPL runs.
Bumrah's dominance against Pant
Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Pant for the seventh time in IPL The Delhi Capitals captain, who played well for his 29, fell to Bumrah in the penultimate over. Mohammed Siraj (4) is the only other bowler to dismiss the southpaw more than three times in the tournament. While Pant made 29 off 19 balls, Bumrah finished with 1/35 in four overs.

Mukesh was a bit expensive as he claimed 3/59 in four overs. He now owns 20 wickets across 17 IPL games at an economy of 10.76. With 13 wickets in seven games, the pacer is now the joint-leading wicket-taker this year (ER: 11.05). Overall, he now has 59 wickets in as many T20 games (ER: 8.95).
