Axar Patel slams his second half-century in IPL: Key stats
Axar Patel has sent in a timely reminder to the selectors ahead of the India's squad selection for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The all-rounder slammed a superb 66-run knock for Delhi Capitals against Gujarat Titans in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season on Wednesday in Delhi. During his knock, the southpaw also surpassed 1,500 IPL runs.
A positive knock from Axar's blade
Axar was promoted to bat at number three and he arrived when DC lost Jake Fraser-McGurk (35/1). Soon DC were reduced to 44/3 and Rishabh Pant joined Axar in the middle. He registered his second fifty and a career-best score as well. As per ESPNcricinfo, Axar owns 855 runs for DC at 22.50 (50s: 2). 686 of his runs came for former employees Punjab Kings.
6th T20 fifty for Axar
In 243 T20 matches (175 innings), Axar now owns 2,668 runs at 22.61 (SR: 134.54). The experienced all-rounder hammered his sixth T20 fifty. He owns 120 sixes and 185 fours.
A record stand alongside Pant against GT
Axar and Pant shared a 113-run stand for the fourth wicket. This is now the highest fourth-wicket stand against GT in the IPL. It's also the third-highest stand (any wicket) and the fourth century-plus stand against the Titans.
