IPL 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore: Squad, schedule, and stats
The 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) season will kick off on March 26. The third match will see Punjab Kings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore at DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. All eyes will be on Harshal Patel
RCB broke the bank to acquire the services of 2021 Purple Cap winner Harshal Patel and Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga RCB are paying Rs. 10.75 crore each for Harshal and Hasaranga. They have also found a perfect opener in Faf du Plessis. RCB spent Rs. 7 crore to buy the veteran star. Bangalore shelled out Rs. 7.75 crore for Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood.
RCB appointed Faf du Plessis as captain
Earlier this month, South African star Faf du Plessis was appointed the captain of RCB. du Plessis, who was a part of the Chennai Super Kings setup, will ply his trade for RCB this year. While leading in 79 T20 games, he has registered 43 victories and 34 defeats. It remains to be seen if he leads RCB to their maiden IPL title.

IPL 2021: RCB lost in the Eliminator
Virat Kohli-led RCB qualified for the playoffs in the IPL 2021. They finished behind Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings, at number three with nine wins and 18 points. However, RCB lost the Eliminator to Kolkata Knight Riders. Following the season, Kohli stepped down as the captain of RCB. He finished with second-most appearances as captain in the IPL (140).

Last year, pace spearhead Harshal Patel emulated the long-standing record of Dwayne Bravo in the IPL. He scalped a total of 32 wickets, the joint-most in a single season along with Bravo. The former registered an incredible average of 14.34.
