IPL 2022: Mumbai to host 55 matches, Pune gets 15
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season is set to witness 55 matches be held in Mumbai and another 15 in Pune. According to Cricbuzz, the matches will be spread over three venues in Mumbai. The Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium will host the matches in Mumbai. The MCA International Stadium in Pune is likely to host 15 matches.
Venues for the playoffs are yet to be decided
The report adds that the venues for the playoffs are yet to be decided. A final decision on the same could be taken in the IPL Governing Council meeting scheduled to be held on February 24.
When will the IPL 2022 season start?
There are two dates being contemplated in terms of starting the IPL 2022 season. One option is March 26 as it is a Saturday and the official broadcaster is preferring the same. Meanwhile, the other option is to start the tournament on March 27. This is likely to lead to a difference in the number of double-header games this season.
