IPL 2022, RR seal win against Mumbai: Records broken
Mumbai Indians were beaten by Rajasthan Royals in match number nine of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season on Saturday. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals posted 193/8 in 20 overs. RR lost Yashasvi Jaiswal early on and then saw Devdutt Padikkal depart thereafter with the score reading 48/2. Post that, Buttler and Sanju Samson added 82 runs for the third wicket. MI were reduced to 40/2 with Rohit Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh going back cheaply. However, Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma added a vital 81-run stand. Kishan departed for a well made 54. After that, MI went on to lose Varma, Tim David, and Daniel Sams to lose the plot. RR claimed a second successive win as MI have lost both their games.
First century of IPL 2022
Buttler has registered the first century of IPL 2022. He had a brilliant strike rate of 147.06. He slammed 11 fours and five sixes. This is now his second century in the IPL. As per Cricketpedia, this is also his second ton in last three IPL innings. Notably, Buttler's maiden IPL ton came against Sunrisers Hyderabad in May 2021 (124 off 64).

Buttler has raced to 2,103 runs in the IPL at 36.25. He has a strike rate of 149.36. The senior cricketer has smashed two tons and 11 fifties. Buttler has now surpassed Adam Gilchrist (2,069) and JP Duminy (2,029) in terms of IPL runs. The aggressive Buttler has racked up 400 runs versus MI at an average of 80.00 (one ton, three fifties).
Bumrah does well for MI
Jasprit Bumrah shined for MI with a spell of 3/17 from his four overs. He got Jaiswal early on before sending Buttler and Hetmyer back in the 19th over. Bumrah has raced to 133 wickets at 22.97. Against the Royals, he now has 17 scalps at 15.47. Meanwhile, Tymal Mills registered his best bowling figures in the IPL (3/35).
Kishan and Varma attain these numbers
Kishan slammed a valiant 54 from 43 deliveries for MI. The southpaw hammered his 11th fifty and a second successive one in IPL 2022. Kishan now has 1,587 runs in the IPL. He hit five fours and a six. Tilak Varma scored 61 from 33 balls, slamming three fours and five maximums. The 19-year-old slammed his maiden IPL fifty.
Ashwin and Chahal extend their tally
R Ashwin (1/30) dismissed the dangerous Varma. The veteran spinner now has 146 wickets, steering clear of Sunil Narine (145). He also matched Narine's tally of 23 wickets versus MI in the IPL. Yuzvendra Chahal claimed 2/26. He now has 144 wickets, going past Bhuvneshwar Kumar (143). Chahal also has 24 wickets versus MI now.
