IPL 2022, LSG beat DC: List of records broken
Lucknow Super Giants handed Delhi Capitals a second successive defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season on Thursday. Asked to bat first, DC were off to a flier before LSG hit back and restricted them to 149/3 in 20 overs. Prithvi Shaw scored a quickfire 61. In response, LSG got off to a terrific start before claiming a crucial win.
LSG bowl well to restrict DC
Prithvi Shaw helped DC start on a superb note as the side piled up 52/0 in the powerplay overs. However, the LSG spinners came on and changed things around. In overs between 7-15, DC were pegged back as Ravi Bishnoi and Krishnappa claimed three wickets between them. In the death overs, DC managed 50/0 but it wasn't enough as they finished on 149/3.
How did LSG's innings pan out?
LSG openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul added 48 runs in the PP overs. QDK was on fire, hammering a 24-ball 36 during this phase. He smashed four fours and a six. LSG were reduced to 86/2 before QDK played a solid innings to help his side claim a win. For DC, Lalit Yadav (1/21) was pick of the bowlers.
Prithvi Shaw hammers a 34-ball 61
DC youngster Prithvi Shaw was top-notch for his side, scoring a 34-ball 61. The dashing opener hit nine fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 179.41. Shaw has gone past the 1,400-run mark in IPL (1,414). This was his maiden fifty this season and 11th overall. He brought up his fifty from 30 balls.
Bishnoi dismisses Warner for the fourth time
Ravi Bishnoi claimed two wickets for 22 runs from his four overs. The right-arm spinner now has 28 wickets in the IPL, including four this season. Notably, Bishnoi dismissed David Warner (4) on the night. As per Cricketpedia, Bishnoi has now dismissed Warner for the fourth time in IPL. Besides Warner's wicket, Bishnoi also dismissed Rovman Powell.
De Kock smashes 80 for LSG
QDK scored 80 from 52 balls, slamming nine fours and two sixes. He now has 2,405 runs at 31.64. This was his 18th IPL fifty. He went past Dwayne Smith's tally of 2,385 runs in the IPL.
