Umesh Yadav took a four-wicket haul, while Andre Russell and Sam Billings propelled KKR to victory. KKR are back to winning ways, having claimed their second win of the season. Here are the records.
How did the match pan out?
KKR, having elected to field, dismissed PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal initially. Although Bhanuka Rajapaksa launched a counter-attack, his 31-run knock was cut short by Shivam Mavi. PBKS suffered a batting collapse thereafter, with Umesh and Tim Southee doing the damage. Kagiso Rabada scored a valuable 25 before PBKS perished on 137. KKR lost early wickets, but Andre Russell and Sam Billings brought them home.
Career-best IPL figures for Umesh Yadav
Indian pacer Umesh Yadav continued his exploits with the ball against PBKS. He dismissed Mayank, Liam Livingstone, Harpreet Brar, and Rahul Chahar to claim his career-best figures (4/23) in the IPL. Umesh even bowled a maiden over. It was his third four-wicket haul in the cash-rich league. In terms of IPL wickets, Umesh equaled Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja (127).
Most wickets against a single opposition (IPL)
Umesh now has the most wickets against a single opposition in the IPL. He picked his 33rd wicket against Punjab Kings. Umesh and Narine are the only players to have taken over 30 wickets against PBKS in the tournament.
Narine picks his 32nd wicket against PBKS
Mystery spinner Sunil Narine scalped the crucial wicket of Raj Bawa. The former shone with figures of 1/23 in four overs. Narine snapped up his 32nd wicket against Punjab in the IPL. He has emulated Rajasthan Royals' R Ashwin in terms of IPL wickets. With 145 scalps, Narine is now the joint-sixth-highest wicket-taker in IPL history.
Rahane races to 4,000 IPL runs
KKR opener Ajinkya Rahane started well but couldn't maximize. He fell to Kagiso Rabada in the second over. However, he achieved a significant feat during his short stay.
